GOL HOWIE’s HOUSE RELIEF MANAGER – PER DIEM

Job description

Gift of Life Howie’s House, an affiliate of Gift of Life Donor Program, serves as a "home away from home" for transplant patients and their families by providing temporary, affordable lodging, meals, and supportive services to those who travel to Philadelphia for transplant-related care. Gift of Life Family House is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization.

Overview:

This is a per diem role. You will be responsible for the daily operations of Gift of Life Howie’s House, including on-site management of volunteers, maintaining a safe, secure, comfortable, and hospitable environment for families, and on-site property management. Works with volunteers, Interns, and provides input to part-time housekeeping and maintenance staff (or contracted employees) to ensure the safe, day-to-day operations of GOL Howie’s House and ensure that adequate coverage is provided through staff and volunteers during all hours of operation. Supervise volunteers, Interns, and provide direction to part-time housekeeping staff. Participates in shift change report-off with Day House Manager or designees. Performs miscellaneous related duties and other duties as assigned.

Some of what you’ll be doing:

Guest Relations

  • Administer guest admissions based upon policy and guidelines; assist in assuring accuracy of registration procedure and gathering information for room statistics.
  • Support room scheduling, guest requests, check-in and check-out, and work with Social Worker (when available) to prioritize families for eligibility to stay in Family House.
  • Address families’ needs that arise during shift (i.e., arrange transportation, provide room rate reductions, etc.) and when the Social Worker is not present.
  • Provide emotional support to families.

House Volunteer Relations

  • Actively engaged in providing guest services as well as ensuring that volunteers are provided with a positive and supportive environment.

Property Management

  • Perform on-site property inspections to ensure that GOL Howie’s House is clean, neat, and in good repair. Includes monitoring and reporting on the physical condition of GOL Howie’s House and grounds to the House Director and/or GLDP Building Manager.
  • Respond to property problems, report items to GLDP House Manager- Evening, interact with appropriate GLDP staff and/or outside contractors (i.e., plumbers, electricians, etc.).
  • Provide input/direction to contracted cleaning and maintenance service to ensure that designated cleaning responsibilities are met.
  • Coordinate with vendor services for laundry, transportation/van service, etc.
  • Monitor and report on the inventory of House supplies and provide input to the House Manager- Day.
  • Provide training and appropriate education to staff, residents,
    and volunteers in the use of and response to GOL Howie’s House safety systems and alarm.

Community Groups

  • Support Home Cook Hero Program

In-Kind Contributions

  • Oversight of receiving and tracking of In-kind contributions

Other

  • Identify and support opportunities to advance the mission of Gift
    of Life Howie’s House (e.g., newsletter stories; media opportunities; speaking
    engagements; networking)

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s Degree and three years of general work experience or an associate degree and two years’ experience in hotel, hospitality, customer relations or service management related fields is required.
  • Ability to develop and carry out plans/goals, establish priorities and effectively multitask is required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work with volunteers and contributors. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Bilingual language skills a plus.

Schedule:
Generally works one 24-hour shift between the hours of Friday 3:00 pm and Sunday 3:00 p.m., sleeps on-site during overnight hours. Must be able to work 2 or 3 shifts per month.

In Building On-Duty: Friday 3:00 pm through Saturday 3:00 pm, or Saturday 3:00 pm through Sunday 3:00 pm; Sleep in Building On-Call: Friday or Saturday 10:00 pm through 7:00 am

Job Type: Part-time/ Per-Diem

Pay: $19.00 per hour plus $125.00 for overnight coverage
